Diwali, which is observed by Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and other communities in Canada and around the world, celebrates the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.

CALGARY – Canada Post today issued a new commemorative stamp in honour of Diwali, a major festival observed by Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and other communities. Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is a celebration of light over darkness and good over evil.

VANCOUVER – Today, Canada Post issued a new commemorative stamp to herald the arrival of Diwali – one of the largest and most widely celebrated festivals in India. Observed by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs and others around the world, the five-day celebration falls on November 4 this year.

Canada Post and India Post are joining hands to issue stamps that celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, an important annual observance for many Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains in Canada and around the world. The joint stamp issue is a historic first between these postal services and reflects our country’s diversity in the year of Canada 150.
